The UAE ranked first regionally and eighth globally in the Technology Progress Index, issued by "Global Finance" magazine, which measures the performance of 67 countries in the global technology race.
The UAE has advanced ahead of countries known for its technological progression, such as South Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and Japan. While Norway topped the classification of countries by obtaining 3,682 points, followed by Sweden in second place with 3,681 points, then Netherlands third with 3,677 points, while Pakistan was ranked in the last place in the list.
On the other hand, the UAE advanced two places on the "Bloomberg" Innovation Index for 2020 to rank 44 globally, while it continued its leadership at the regional level, while Germany ranked first on the index, to keep South Korea away from the lead after having monopolized it for six years, while the United States retreated to the 9th place, and Singapore climbed to the third after a two-year absence. The ranking highlights economies’ ability to innovate, a key theme in the Davos forum, which happens through 21-24 January 2020.
